An Achievable Dream
An Achievable Dream is a nationally recognized K–12 program dedicated to the belief that all children can learn and succeed regardless of their socioeconomic background.
Challenge:
An Achievable Dream was successfully raising funds for its annual operations but had no planned giving program. They were missing out on potentially millions of dollars through gifts in wills and estates, which would enhance their long-term sustainability.
Solution:
I developed a comprehensive planned giving program, working with staff to conduct donor research, create communication pieces, recruit professional advisors, and map out a strategy for asking for planned gifts. I also trained the Achievable Dream staff on various types of gifts and coached them on how to spark gift planning conversations with donors. The staff felt prepared and confident about asking for a broad array of charitable and planned gifts. They have raised more than $2 million in the first two years for future Achievable Dream students.
