What would you do if you knew you would succeed? What would you do if you knew you would not fail?
What one thing would you like to achieve in the final months of 2022?
It might be something personal, like lose 20 pounds.
It might be something about a relationship, like spend more quality time with my spouse, or find a great partner.
It might be something professional, like earning a certification, finding a new job where you’re appreciated for your talents, or getting promoted into a CEO role.
Visualize your goal
Take a moment and visualize that goal.
Imagine yourself next week.
You take the first step.
You’re moving toward that goal.
Then, imagine yourself three months from now. You’ve made tremendous progress.
Finally, think about six months from now. You’ve worked hard. You’ve achieved your goal!
How would it feel?
Make a commitment
Are you ready to make the commitment to achieving that goal?
Did I just feel you hesitate?
Ambivalence can keep us from achieving our full potential. Didn’t Darth Vader say in Star Wars “the inertia is strong in this one?” I’m kidding. #Starwarsgeek. Vader was talking about The Force.
So, consider inertia as the force. Inertia keeps us grounded and still. It keeps us comfortable. We don’t want to change because it seems too difficult and we’re unsure of what’s out there if we change. The unfamiliar becomes the avoidable.
Before you get into full avoidance/ambivalence mode, answer one question.
It’s simple, but powerful.
What one thing can you do today that will move you forward toward that goal?
Start with one thing.
