About Me

The Boughs: A Legacy for Their Community

Allison M. Bough, MBA, CFRE

Hello! I’m Allison Bough.

I’m an executive coach, certified fundraiser, and consultant with thirty years of experience helping nonprofits succeed. My superpower is to teach, coach, and develop strategies so nonprofits raise more money and build stronger relationships with their donors.

I coach busy nonprofit leaders and CEOs to inspire their team, reach even higher levels of success, and find peace, joy, and satisfaction along the way, focusing on aligning your thinking with where you want to go and clearing away any obstacles that are blocking your path. By aligning your thinking and beliefs, you can make positive changes that will lead to better outcomes, stronger teams, and better fundraising results.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Hollins University and an MBA from Meredith College. I’ve been a Certified Fund-Raising Executive since 2000 and hold the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Master Trainer certification. I’ve also taught classes for Tidewater Community College’s Academy for Nonprofit Excellence, Network Peninsula’s Nonprofit Management Institute, and the University of Richmond’s Institute on Philanthropy in addition to teaching specific nonprofit boards and staff the art and science of philanthropy. I’m certified in coaching methodology from Frame of Mind Coaching and work with individual leaders and nonprofit leadership teams across Virginia.

In the community, volunteer service is important to me. I’ve volunteered for NEST (Norfolk Emergency Shelter Team), First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk’s Saturday Soup Kitchen, and served as a board member for the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Hampton Roads VA chapter, the Hampton Roads Gift Planning Council, the Hollins University Alumni Association, and the AFP International Conference Education Advisory Committee.

When I’m not working with nonprofits, I love to travel, cook Italian food, visit art museums and explore Hampton Roads with my husband, Scott, and our dog, Tucker.
